The average for 2005-2008 was 4.53

Some times comparable to Tate's:

Vincent Jackson 4.46
Roddy White 4.46
Dwayne Bowe 4.45

Some times comparable to Ford's:

Santonio Holmes 4.35
Johnny Lee Higgins 4.34

- The average 40 time for the 12 TEs that ran at the 2010 NFL Combine was 4.709 seconds.
- The fastest TE was Pittsburgh's Dorin Dickerson who ran it in 4.40 seconds.
- The slowest TE was Riar Geer from Colorado who did a 4.98
- Miami's former basketball player Jimmy Graham ran a 4.56 which exceeded the peer average.
- Tony Moeaki (Iowa) and Dennis Pitta (BYU) both also exceeded peer average with times of 4.69 and 4.63 respectively.
- Oklahoma's Jermaine Gresham, whose season was ended by injury, ran a 4.73 which was below average.
- Two other notable prospects, Florida's Aaron Hernandez and Arizona's Rob Gronkowski, did not participate.

- The average time for the 19 offensive tackles that participated in the 40 yard dash at the 2010 NFL Combine was 5.262 seconds.
- The fastest OT was Bruce Campbell from Maryland who ran the 40 yard dash in a time of 4.85 seconds.
- The slowest OT was Adam Ulatoski from Texas who ran a 5.53 despite weighing in 14 lbs lighter than Campbell.
- Most of the top prospects exceeded the peer average, including:
- Brian Bulaga (Iowa) who ran a 5.26
- Russell Okung (Oklahoma State) who ran a 5.17
- Jared Veldheer (Hillsdale) who ran a 5.09
- Trent Williams (Oklahoma) who ran a 4.88
- One top prospect that missed out on the peer average was 323 lb Anthony Davis from Rutgers who ran a 5.38

- The average time for the 15 OGs that took part in the 40 yard dash at the 2010 NFL Combine was 5.269
- The fastest guard was Marshall Newhouse from TCU who ran a 5.00 flat which was also 3rd amongst all O-linemen
- The slowest guard was Iowa’s Dace Richardson who ran a 5.78
- Highly touted OG/OT prospects Mike Iupati (Idaho) and Vladimir Ducasse (Massachusetts) both exceeded the peer average with times of 5.26 and 5.21 respectively.

- The average time for the 5 Cs that took part in the 40 yard dash was 5.224 seconds.
- Matt Tennant from Boston College exceeded peer average with his time of 5.16 seconds whilst other top prospects Maurkice Pouncey (Florida) and J.D. Walton (Baylor) narrowly missed out on the average with times of 5.23 and 5.24.

- The average time for the 19 defensive tackles that participated in the 40 yard dash at the 2010 NFL Combine was 5.064 seconds
- The fastest DT was Earl Mitchell from Arizona who ran a 4.70
- The slowest DT was 354 lb Alabama nose tackle Terrence Cody with a 5.64
- The top two prospects at the position, and possibly in the entire draft, Ndamukong Suh (Nebraska) and Gerald McCoy (Oklahoma) both exceeded the peer average with times of 4.98 and 4.96 seconds respectively.
- Penn State's Jared Odrick, who has been touted as a possible fit for the Patriots, was also above average with a 4.98

- The average time for the 34 DEs (and DE/OLB hybrids) that took part in the 40 yard dash in the 2010 NFL Combine was 4.784 seconds.
- The fastest DEs were Dexter Davis from Arizona State and Jason Pierre-Paul from South Florida who both ran it in 4.64 seconds.
- The slowest DE was Alabama's Lorenzo Washington who ran a 5.10
- Alex Carrington (Arkansas State) was slower than average with a 4.89
- Brandon Graham (Michigan) was faster than average with a 4.72
- Greg Hardy from Mississippi was slower than average with a 4.87
- Jerry Hughes from TCU and Sergio Kindle from Texas were both faster than average with a 4.69 and a 4.71 respectively.
- Murray State's Austen Lane ran a 4.83 which was slower than the average.
- Koa Misi from Utah ran a 4.69 and Ricky Sapp from Clemson ran a 4.70 (both above average).
- Pierre-Paul's South Florida team-mate George Selvie was slower than average with a 4.89

- The average 40 yard dash time for the 32 linebackers that took part in it at the 2010 NFL Combine was 4.716 seconds
- The fastest LB was Jamar Chaney from Mississippi State who ran a 4.54
- The slowest LB was Micah Johnson (Kentucky) who ran a 4.99
- Pat Angerer (Iowa) ran a 4.69, which exceeded the peer average.
- Alabama's Rolando McClain and Florida's Brandon Spikes, who both have concerns over their speed, decided not to participate in the 40 yard dash.
- South Carolina's Eric Norwood and Sean Weatherspoon from Missouri were both above average with times of 4.67 and 4.68 seconds respectively.

- The average time for the 27 cornerbacks that took part in the 40 yard dash at the 2010 NFL Combine was 4.516 seconds.
- The fastest CB was Crezdon Butler from Clemson with a time of 4.41 seconds.
- The slowest CB was Marshay Green from Mississippi with a time of 4.64 seconds.
- Alabama corner Javier Arenas ran a 4.52, which was just below average for the position whilst his team-mate Kareem Jackson was faster than average with a 4.48.
- Brandon Ghee (Wake Forest) ran a faster-than-average 4.45
- Florida's Joe Haden, believed by many to be the best CB in the draft, was disappointing with a below-average time of 4.57 seconds.
- Florida State CB Patrick Robinson was faster than average with a 4.42, the second fastest time for the position.
- Kyle Wilson from Boise State did not participate.

- The average time for the 18 safeties that participated in the 40 yard dash at the 2010 NFL Combine was 4.572 seconds.
- The fastest safety was Taylor Mays from USC who officially ran a 4.43 (but many believe he was faster than that)
- The slowest safety was Kendrick Lewis (Mississippi) with a time of 4.72 seconds.
- Larry Asante, the SS from Alabama, ran a below-average time of 4.63 seconds.
- Tennessee's Eric Berry, the top safety in the draft, ran a 4.47 which was only bettered by Mays and Texas SS Earl Thomas who ran a 4.44
- Reshad Jones from Georgia was quicker than average with a 4.54
- Florida State's Rhodes scholar safety Myron Rolle, who plans to be a neurosurgeon after his NFL career, was slower than average, stopping the clock at 4.68 seconds.
