Fred Kirsch opened the show with a brief introduction to PFW in Progress and what the show is about before introducing the show co-hosts Shane Donaldson and Paul Perillo.

The guys began to discuss the recent personnel moves that Bill Belichick made before deciding on his 53 man roster. The guys talked about the running back situation following the cutting of Raymont Harris and talked about the two main RBs Kevin Faulk and J.R. Redmond. The guys talked about the mechanics of a screen pass before moving on to discuss the Quarterback position.

They mentioned that the Patriots added four QBs to the roster to which Fred made the point that the Patriots probably kept recent draft pick Tom Brady on the roster to keep other teams away from him. They made the assumption that Tom Brady and John Friesz would be inactive on gameday with Michael Bishop backing up franchise QB.

Tight Ends were next with the guys talking about how, following the release of Ben Coates, Rod Rutledge and Eric Bjornson haven’t been able to provide Drew Bledsoe with the red zone ammunition he was used to.

The guys moved onto the defense and how “thin” the Patriots were at Linebacker before an email criticised Ted Johnson’s ongoing injury situation. Paul stuck up for Johnson by saying a ruptured bicep injury is not like a pulled hamstring. Shane agreed with Paul but brought up Terry Glenn and how his injuries have made fans unhappy but Johnson seems to get forgiven beacuse of his work ethic.

Following an ad break Fred brought up the excellent Patriots Football Weekly subscription offer before the guys talked about the Patriots secondary with the recent cutting of Safety Chris Carter. They talked about Lawyer Milloy’s competitive nature and questioned whether Tabucky Jones was the real deal. After a technical problem with a phone call from Neil in Arlington and some talk about the recent preseason games the guys talked briefly about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who the Patriots meet in the season opener.

After another break, an email from Tampa Bay fan ‘Peg Leg’ called out Fred for calling the Buccaneers running game overrated who hit back with a shot at Tampa Bay’s website. The guys continued their analysis of the Buccaneers with a discussion about QB Shaun King and how he hasn’t yet connected with WR Keyshawn Johnson.

Fred then pondered the question if the guys thought that Bill Belichick and the Patriots would be looking ahead to the big Monday Night Football clash with the Jets. Paul quickly dismissed the question saying that Belichick would be prepared for the opener and wouldn’t look at the Jets game until the Buccaneers game had finished.

The show ended following some talk about the Patriots recent acquisition at tackle Greg Robinson – Randall and how his stock slipped in the draft.
